Configuring WLANs

Now, let's consider the creation of a wireless network as part of our test infrastructure. Based on the resources that we have, we can create wireless networks using three techniques:

  • Guest WLAN based on the SOHO router
  • Trusted WLAN based on the hardware access point
  • Trusted WLAN based on the software access point

Each technique has its own characteristics (advantages and disadvantages) and provides a number of choices. We will cover all three options.

As our guest WLAN is based on a SOHO router, we will discuss both wired and wireless configurations here to build a guest WLAN and provide Internet access (external network) for the whole lab network.
