Connecting to the Internet

It may seem as if this chapter is coming too soon in the book. After all, it might seem better to install the operating system and applications, and then connect to the Internet because you won’t have access to a browser before then anyway. However, most operating systems today rely on an Internet connection during the installation process. The connection lets the installer connect to the vendor site to download operating system updates, device drivers, and other required software to ensure you have a great installation when the installation process completes. In addition, the connection often lets the installer activate the operating system for you so that you don’t have to do it manually later.
