In networking, the time it takes for a packet of data to go from one point to another. Synonymous with delay.

load bank

A device that creates an electrical load. Used to test standby infrastructure to ensure that it can support a Data Center's electrical needs when the room is operating at full capacity.

low smoke/zero halogen cables

Cables rated to produce little smoke or toxic fumes during combustion. Used predominantly in Europe rather than plenum-rated cables.

micron

One millionth of a meter. Used to express the diameter of a fiber cable's core and the size of tiny contaminants in the air. The symbol for micron is μm.

multiplexing

Sending multiple streams of information as part of a single, complex signal.
