Common Problems

If something goes wrong during a Data Center cleaning, it is inevitably attributable to human error. There just aren't many mechanical devices involved in cleaning a server environment, and those that are guided by a person and therefore can cause damage only when that person makes a mistake. Here are some common pitfalls to avoid:

  • Tripping a circuit breaker— Plugging a vacuum cleaner into a server cabinet power strip already feeding server equipment can overload the strip and trip a circuit breaker. Don't allow anything to be plugged in to a server cabinet other than servers, networking devices, and peripheral equipment. Require cleaning equipment to be plugged in to the Data Center's designated convenience outlets
