As much as floor plans, as-builts, and equipment inventories can tell you about the condition of your server environment, they are all snapshots in time. They can't tell what's happening in the Data Center up to the moment. For that real-time information, you need tools that actively monitor the room. The greater the ability you have to “see” in to your Data Center without having to physically be there, the easier it is to manage. It is like a parent using a baby monitor, which enables them to hear or see that their child is safe while they are in another room of the house.
