Chapter 3. Building the Geometry of the World
In this chapter, we're going to cover how to basically build a world for our game to live in. It won't be a final, fully fleshed out world, but we'll set up the basic shapes and spaces using the different tools that UDK offers which are as follows:
- First, we'll cover how to quickly block out a space using the CSG Builder Brush to layout CSG and volumes.
- Then, we'll take a look at the Terrain Editor. We won't go over the Landscape tool, because although it is a newer and more powerful version of the Terrain Editor, it requires a much more in-depth look than we have time for.
- After that, we'll take a look at the Foliage tool to flesh out any outdoor areas that we have quickly.
