Beginning an Announcing Career

13.1  Introduction

This chapter is designed to help you land that first job in the broadcast performance area. (See Performance Tip 13.1 for some worthwhile advice.) Even if you’ve had some experience as an announcer, the techniques mentioned here can assist you when you want to move to a better position. If you are a beginner, first take stock of why you want to get into this field. If you’re looking for a high-paying job or stardom, it isn’t going to happen, at least not at first. Entry-level pay in broadcasting is modest at best.
