Don Brown, Bill Hawkins, and I share a lot of history. It is therefore an honor and a pleasure for me to write this foreword to their new book, Bring Out the Best in Every Employee. Bill and I go back more years than I care to remember; we even roomed together in college, and then moved on to decades of successful collaboration in the Marshall Goldsmith Group. Don and I also claim a significant life event in common, and share two very powerful professional anchors: the relentless affinity for data, and an undying affection for the same mentor in Dr. Paul Hersey.
