Chapter 15 Refining your presence

As with all forms of communication, the biggest thing working against you developing a strong profile is everybody else doing the same thing. On social networks it’s no different. The thing that is likely to limit your ability to develop a strong presence is that everyone else is trying to develop a strong profile on these networks.

If you just think about the numbers of updates from everyone in your network you can’t read as it is. If you have 200 connections on each of the big four networks and each update takes you an average of a minute to read, that would be (assuming a 50 per cent overlap of content) 400 minutes of status update reading ...
