Why do people suffer from anxiety?

We often refer to people as ‘born worriers’ and it certainly does appear to be the case that some of us have a genetic predisposition towards anxiety. We know that if one identical twin has an anxiety problem the chances of the other twin also suffering from anxiety may be as high as 88% although some studies have found much lower rates and you cannot rule out the influence of the environment that both twins have shared.
