About the author

Neil Taylor is creative director of The Writer (thewriter.com), the UK’s largest business writing consultancy. He trains people to become more effective writers at places like the BBC, British Airways, Sotheby’s, and Breast Cancer Care.

He’s written two books: Search Me, about the Google brand, and The Name of the Beast: The perilous process of naming products, companies and brands. He’s got a degree in linguistics and crops up from time to time on the TV and radio talking about words and brands.

He got interested in language when he was exiled from Lancashire to the Home Counties, and realised he didn’t speak like everyone else. He’s done the same trick in French, which he speaks with an odd Québec accent.
