Appendix A. Getting Started with AIR

You can create AIR applications using an IDE such as Adobe Flex Builder 3 (for SWF-based content) and Aptana (for HTML-based content), or using a set of command line tools. While the majority of this book assumes you are working with Flex Builder, this appendix shows how to install both Flex Builder and command line tools.

AIR Tools

There are two key components to AIR—the runtime and the Software Development Kit (SDK). The runtime is needed to run any AIR application, but the SDK is needed only by AIR application developers.
