One seemingly simple approach to creating a “natural” user interface would be a democratic one, that is, let the users “define” it. A method of accomplishing this would be to show users the various end states that the system offers (i.e., its functionality). We could then show the system in its initial state and ask the user, “What would you do to create the end state given this start state?” ...
