Becoming famous
A large following can bring you many opportunities. People in music, sport and cinema have achieved international fame and used it to extend their brands into new markets. A much larger number have done this on a national scale. Alan Sugar built up Amstrad, a consumer electronics company in the UK. He has since chaired Tottenham Hotspur Football Club and become a major property investor. He is also the star of The Apprentice on BBC TV, a role played by Donald Trump in the US.
