DO YOUR PROSPECTS KNOW YOU EXIST? If you don't have a strong online presence, then there is a darn good chance they do not. It's one thing to have a blog or fancy website; it's another thing completely to have a strong online presence. Never before has it been so easy to build a strong personal brand. The tools available today are incredible. However, many entrepreneurs still get stuck in the process of building their brand and developing their presence, especially online.

It's easy to assume that if you have a website, blog, decent search engine optimization, and a Facebook account that you have a strong online presence. All of these are great, but there's more to it than that. Just because you own a toolbox doesn't mean you can build a house.

You have to approach this from your audience's point of view.

Your online presence needs to clearly answer three questions: who you are, what you do, and who it is for. You may feel like your online presence is strong, but if your target audience isn't “getting it,” then you have a big problem. Confused prospects never buy. Let me state that again for dramatic effect: confused prospects never buy! Never underestimate the importance of clarity.
