Enterprise JavaBeans and Component-based Middleware

Now that we have spent some time looking into the past and you have an understanding of what application servers are, we’ll take a look at Enterprise JavaBeans and see what features they offer. The rudimentary purpose behind Enterprise JavaBeans is to provide a framework for which components may be designed and then “plugged” into a server. This server then extends the components’ capabilities by offering services for which it will supply “plumbing” and other necessary amenities. Enterprise JavaBeans are sometimes seen as similar to the original JavaBeans component specification, but in reality they only share some properties, methods, and the same surname: JavaBean.
