Summary
In this chapter we looked at the history of XML and at many key ideas associated with using XML. XML has many roots in other technologies that have been proven in many different implementations. XML should then be just as proven; in fact, many important applications use XML successfully today.
XML has become one of the most important new technologies since HTML. It is used in many applications and is available in many different implementations in just about every language and platform.
