Our optimized results
Cumulatively, our efforts have made a difference. Between the images, CSS, and JavaScript, our original site payload was 1021 KB.
After our optimization efforts, we've cut it down to 909 KB—a saving of 112 KB or over 10 percent reduction in our total site footprint.
If we focus on the CSS and JavaScript file sizes, it's over a 50 percent saving. That's a huge difference. Chances are that it will be noticed.
We can improve things further, especially for small devices, by implementing a solid responsive images technique. For that, let me point you to Appendix B, Implementing Responsive Images.
