Summary

This chapter examined the advantages of standardizing on one LVM throughout an enterprise. Additionally, this chapter provided guidelines and techniques to determine the needs and requirements of applications, services, and datacenters that drive the choice of an LVM. The central role of the application as the determining factor in choosing an LVM has also been stressed.

The chapter also addressed the use of multiple LVMs on the same system and strongly recommended that you implement a single LVM on a system. Additionally, this chapter outlined several advantages to standardizing on one LVM, including minimizing system complexity and speeding recovery time.
