Recovering From Disasters

Even a cursory discussion of creating and implementing a Disaster Recovery plan (sometimes referred to as Business Continuity Planning) is beyond the scope of this book. However, we feel it is necessary to make a few recommendations regarding information that should be addressed in a Disaster Recovery plan.

Foremost, systems that are crucial to the continuation of business must be identified. These systems must have complete and accurate backups of applications performed on a regular basis. Additionally, the boot disks should be backed up by ufsdump or Web Start Flash archives. Copies of the data backups and boot disk images should be stored offsite.
