First, you must establish your strengths and weaknesses; that is, where you have experience and can perform and where you do not have the ability to perform.

Based on the assumption that "if you've done it before you can do it again,'' a quick assessment can be made of the task by using the Task Qualification Matrix shown in Table 4-5.

The Task Qualification Matrix lists all the requirements or tasks in the leftmost column and the projects (including IR&D programs) that the enterprise has performed across the top. Every requirement or task should have an "X'' at the intersect with at least one project. If not, continue with the process to try to bring the Specification to within your capabilities.
