17. Dealing with Dirty Fighters

Dishonorable opponents do not deserve pity or compassion.

Everyone wants to win, but you can carry that desire too far. In martial arts it’s understood that all parties are aggressive and have a winning spirit, but without honor in how you play the game, the need to win can spin out of control and taint your victory. Every system of martial arts has its own code of honor. In their simplest form, these codes basically say, “I’m going to give you the best I have and will fight fair.”
