The most important question to ask before starting any negotiation is “Is it worth the investment of my time to start the bargaining process?” You may decide that the time you will have to spend far outweighs the small amount you might save. Sometimes, after you assess a situation, you may decide that a confrontation is just not worth it. I’ve seen drivers get into a physical altercation over a parking spot! This is what can happen when two parties harden their positions. Is it really worth fighting over? All one person has to do is drive away, and that person is likely to find another spot even closer.
