earpiece: The part of a telephone handset which is put near to the ear.

earth: A conductor physically connected to the ground. (US usage is simply ground.)

earth leakage circuit breaker (ELCB): Obsolete term for a residual current device. (Hist.)

earth loop: A fault condition affecting signals passed between units where circulating currents in multiple ground paths introduce hum.

earth station: A transmitting and/or receiving station on Earth forming part of a satellite (2) communications system. Also called a ground station.
