Chapter 17

Semantic Integration via Messaging

This chapter describes a method for achieving the semantic integration of a collection of data without copying that data and persisting it in a consolidating database. It describes the concept of a virtual enterprise database which is a semantic hub in a semantic hub-and-spoke architecture that can be realized in any physical architecture, including in a point-to-point architecture.
