10. Disruptive Innovation in Transformation

As we mentioned in the opening chapter, the frequency and severity of major industry and competitive disruptions are increasing. This chapter focuses on a new set of corporate transformation accelerators to enable leaders to both create and react more quickly to disruptive innovations in the market. These fast-paced changes in direction are referred to as corporate “pivots,” a phrase borrowed from start-ups who begin down one strategic path that does not play out and have to find an entirely new strategy and value proposition to continue in business.
