About the Authors

Scott Keller is a director in McKinsey's Southern California office, and leads its transformational change practice in the Americas. He has also lived and worked in Australia, where he co-founded the firm's Performance Leadership Institute, and in Latin America. His work focuses on helping senior leaders to conceive and manage large-scale transformation programs.

He has written a book for colleagues and clients, The Performance Culture Imperative (with Carolyn Aiken and Michael Rennie), as well as several articles on organizational behavior, including “The Irrational Side of Change Management” and “The CEO's Role in Leading Transformation.”

Outside McKinsey, Scott is a co-founder of the multiple-award-winning Digital Divide Data, a social enterprise that utilizes a sustainable IT service model to benefit some of the world's most disadvantaged people. He was previously a manufacturing manager with P&G and a photovoltaic engineer for the U.S. Department of Energy. He holds an MBA and a BS in mechanical engineering from the University of Notre Dame, Indiana.

Scott lives in Seal Beach, California, where he and his family witness the power of transformation daily as they help one of their children who has special needs to reach his full potential.
