Chapter 12. CREATING MULTILINGUAL CONTENT
To create web pages in multiple languages, you need software that supports multiple languages. Until recently, however, most English-language software supported only the Latin 1 character set. Latin 1 works fine for creating English and Western European web pages, but it’s useless with languages such as Arabic, Russian, or Japanese. And although software has come a long way in the past two years, there are a still a number of obstacles to be aware of. This chapter explains many of the limitations you’ll face when using software to create multilingual content and offers a few helpful workarounds.
