Staying Fit and Well on Location

Shooting as an occupation is physically arduous. Location shooting is even more so as the working days tend to be longer so that producers can get the best out of being in a different setting or country. Add to this the fact that you’ll be traveling more, which means hand carrying the kit and coping with more filming problems than normal, and the stress can mount up.

Location shooting has always been physical as we have to carry the kit from place to place: out from the car, into the airports, plus the rigging and de-rigging at each new location. And most cameramen find that this can put a strain on your body that builds up over time. Handheld filming, for instance, can be bad for your back, hips, ...
