Shooting for the Edit
Single Camera Techniques for Making the Edit go Smoothly
Even the best shots in the world will end up on the cutting room floor if they are too short for the editor to use, have a wobble or camera shake in the middle, have dodgy audio, or simply have untidy starts and ends. When filming single camera location items, we need to give the editor footage that can be used in many different ways in case he has to change the way a piece is cut or alter the duration of entire sections.
Let’s say you are shooting an intro shot of a lovely old building in warm summer sunshine in order to set up an interview in which the presenter discusses the building.
