A Single, Visible View of the Truth

Information hiding and protection has long been a practice in organizations, whether intentional or not. The thinking is that the more you know, the more power you have. However, this idea leads to mistrust, an inability to successfully delegate, and most important, a failure to deliver the best results due to inadequate information on the part of others. Successful agile leaders need to be visible and open, and “share the same truth” with their teams. One of Scott’s former executives, with this concept in mind, told his organization that he would share everything he knew with them, at least until they proved that they were not worthy of such trust.
