If multitasking is prevalent in your organization, and you’re convinced that you need to take steps to eliminate it, we can suggest a couple of simple metrics to track.

The first is to note how many people on a team are “multi-allocated.” By this we mean note the number of people who are partially dedicated to more than one team. Having one or two people that fall into this category is probably not a big deal (but, even here, we would ask, “Why?”); however, if you have a fairly high percentage of your team members that are multi-allocated, then you are most likely being inefficient with these people’s time.
