There’s almost always more work than people to do it. It’s impossible to do everything. Set clear priorities, and choose to do the work that is most important.

The principles are the same for product companies and IT organizations: understand what everyone is working on, articulate priorities, and choose only the work that supports the goals of the group and the organization.

Chaos hides problems—both with people and projects. When chaos recedes, problems emerge. As a manager, you can choose how to resolve them, and resolve them you must.
