11.3. Installing a Packaged Application

While scanning through the list of packaged applications described previously, your appetite to use one or more of these applications may have been whetted. You may be anxious to start using some of this free functionality. Wait no longer — in this section, you will download and install the Checklist Manager application and put it into immediate use.

  1. Go to the packaged application section listed on the http://apex.oracle.com page.

  2. Click on the Download link for the Checklist Manager, since you probably have a series of discrete tasks to perform, and this application can help you understand your workload and track your progress.

  3. Save the ZIP file on your local hard drive, and then unzip the file into its own directory.

  4. As you should with any installation, read the checklist_readme text file. This file contains instructions for loading the Checklist Manager application.

This application installs like any other Oracle Application Express application. You already performed this action in the previous chapter, when you deployed your application to another APEX environment. This time, you don't have to worry about building the package — the authors of this application already did this for you. You can simply perform the fairly simply load, as described in the text file.

  1. Go to the home page of your APEX environment.

  2. As you did in the last chapter, go to the home page of the APEX Application Builder and click Import.
