Chapter 3. Extending Your APEX Application
In the last chapter, you quickly created the beginnings of a complete application. The Oracle Application Express wizards gave you the ability to make APEX pages with a fairly broad range of basic functionality, which is required by pretty much every application. But any particular application will require some additional customization and functionality, which you will add, in part, in this chapter.
In this chapter, you will extend your application by adding some formatting to some of the fields on your pages. More importantly, you will learn about some of the features of the APEX environment that allow you to protect the integrity of your data, guiding your users to avoid entering information that just doesn't make sense in the context of the application.
Along the way, you will learn more about the APEX development environment and some of the features you can use to improve your basic application.
