Chapter 6. Creative Draw

OpenOffice.org Draw is commonly seen as one of the peripheral applications in the suite, and yet it's a very capable piece of design software, as well as being a great addition to the package. Draw can handle most design tasks—with the obvious exception of heavy photographic editing—and can be used either as an integral part of the suite or as a stand-alone application (see Figure 6-1).

Draw's core strength is arranging shapes on a page. Just as Writer is used to arrange words into a coherent whole, so Draw can take primitive shapes and other elements and allow you to turn them into a coherent visual product.
