14.1. Installing AppleScript Studio
In order to work with AppleScript Studio, you have to install the developer tools. If you have a folder called /Developer on your system, the tools are probably already there. If not, you'll have to install the Xcode Tools from your OS X installation CDs in order to try the examples in this chapter.
If your Mac didn't ship with a separate Xcode CD, you may have a compressed disk image inside /Applications/Installers that you can use to install Xcode.
You can get the latest version of the tools for free from Apple's Developer Connection website. First, you have to register as a developer. Go to http://developer.apple.com, where you can register as an online developer for no charge. After you've registered, you can sign in and download the Xcode Tools.
The discussions in this chapter are based on Xcode 1.5 and Interface Builder 2.4.2.
