Part I: Building the Game

It’s time to work on your final game, a one-player strategy game—Harbor Defender—for which you use the concepts and code you’ve developed in the earlier chapters. Most of the content is stuff that we have already learned. You make use of what you already know. Some game-development books like to end with a flashy 3D game. I chose not to take this route because there isn’t enough time to teach you all the nuances of adding a third dimension. Writing a 3D game isn’t easy: when you play one on your smartphone or tablet, you can be fairly certain that it was created by a large team.
