13.3. Summary

This Chapter has demonstrated how to determine if there is a current connection to the Internet from an AIR application and how to set up the AIR application to trigger events whenever a change in network status occurs. Next, the ability to have an application update itself was demonstrated, utilizing the Updater class. Finally, the two concepts were combined to create an application that first checks for an Internet connection and then checks to see if there is a new version of the application available for download.

The next Chapter will take a look at the new FileSystem components available exclusively to AIR applications. This set of components makes viewing the local file system within an AIR application a very easy thing to do.
