12.4. Summary

This Chapter has demonstrated three different ways in which AIR can interact with the host operating system. I first demonstrated how to drag files into and out of AIR applications. Next, we examined how to interact with the system clipboard. Then I demonstrated how to read the contents of the clipboard and also how to write to the clipboard. Finally, we examined AIR's NativeMenu API and demonstrated how to create menus, submenus, dividers, and keyboard shortcuts.

In the next chapter, we'll examine how AIR can determine when there is an Internet connection present. The Chapter will also demonstrate my methodology for creating AIR applications that can check for newer versions and update themselves when needed.
