8.5. Summary

In today's world of technology, it has become commonplace for companies to expect systems to communicate with each other in ways that were not possible just a decade ago. In this chapter, you explored ways to work with external data to facilitate communications between various systems. You learned VBA techniques for consuming web services from your application. Web services allow applications on various platforms to exchange data upon request and have become an increasingly popular communication technique between systems. You learned how to import and link to SharePoint lists by using both the built-in wizard and using VBA. Chapter 9 will build on this chapter by explaining how to export data in your application to reports and Web-enabled output.
