Abstract

This chapter provides an overview of the types of humanitarian organizations and the range of positions that are available to international staff. It provides an overview of UN agencies, the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, and International Nongovernmental Organizations. It highlights where the jobs may exist, with which organizations, relevant sectors in humanitarian aid, the types of jobs, skills, and functions. The exercise at the end of the chapter is designed to help the reader think through the type of organization they might be most aligned with.
