Summary

In this chapter, we discussed the basics of a Web application including the definition of a Web application and had a short discussion of the key elements that make up a Web application: servlets, JSP, web.xml, and so on. This is just the tip of the iceberg; we dive deep into the intricacies of the different elements that make up Web applications later in the book. Servlets and JSP development, along with tag libraries, are covered in great detail in Part IV, “Using Web Technologies in WebLogic Applications.” Web application packaging and deployment are dealt with in detail in the next chapter.
