Above and Beyond

It would be wonderful if all working relationships would resonate with such values. Maybe someday they will. Meanwhile, it's worth noting that sometimes the “problem” is less a matter of conflicting values and more a matter of irritants that, placed in proper context, shrink to much more manageable dimensions.

A number of years ago, David counseled an airline mechanic on just such a values quandary. “Alex” (at his request, not his real name) had four children and the inevitable expenses of such a large family. Alex also worked for a company and in an environment that appeared to have very little in common with his personal values.
