Introduction

We live in a fast-moving world where problems, threats and opportunities must be assessed, prioritised and dealt with as quickly as possible. Yet problem solving is inherently complicated – rarely do problems exist in isolation. It is quite possible to solve a problem in one area and cause a brand new (potentially) worse problem somewhere else. It would be equally possible to solve a problem in a way that we think is fantastic – but that our stakeholders hate or that is out of alignment with our external business environment.
