The first two questions many people ask when it comes to the stock market are “What should I buy?” or “What are the hot stocks right now?” These questions are more than legitimate; the most important part of stock investing is picking the right stocks to buy. I usually begin my stock search by looking at the “new highs” list (52-week highs) to find out what areas of the market are working well. The beauty about buying names hitting new highs is that there’s little overhead resistance, which basically means that there are fewer sellers found in those stocks than in names that have been under-performing.
