Society expects reliable and effective products and services. Employers need to feel confident that there are codes of professionalism, conduct and ethics that their staff adhere to. In this section we describe the professionalism and ethics of people working in the IT and computing industry. This is often achieved by membership of the appropriate professional body.
BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, is one of the professional bodies that supports the IT and computing industry. It was formed in 1957 and now has around 70,000 members.
