As with all other aspects, the camera team on location is considerably smaller (and more mobile) than their studio counterparts, but once again their role is guided by similar principles. They are still aiming to give the director good, well focused, well-framed images that will tell the story, but now they have the extra responsibility of ensuring that the exposure and colour balance of those images is well adjusted. They also have the job of setting up the whole apparatus. A studio Camera Operator walks up to it and starts getting shots - a location one has to first unpack it, put it on a tripod, power it up, and adjust its iris, white/black balance before she or he can even think about shots.
