Working closely with wardrobe, and often part of it, is the make-up team. In small-scale television this again is normally left to the performer and the results are, at best, not good and often a disaster. This is another area where a knowledge of what the camera actually sees is essential. In broad terms there are two types of make-up, corrective and artistic.
It is essential that the make-up area of a studio has proper lighting. Studio productions take place in a closed environment, lit by tungsten lighting of a particular colour temperature. The colour temperature of this lighting is used to balance the cameras so that they believe that the light is white.
