7  The engineering team

Each studio will have its own engineering section, to ensure that the equipment is kept running in the best order. This could be just one person in a small studio, who would be able to diagnose faults and then arrange for them to be fixed, whilst doing the routine adjustment of equipment to keep it performing in the optimum way.

The production team will also need engineering support to ensure they get the best out of the available equipment. Very often the Studio Engineer is hired (with the studio) to fulfil this role. He or she will make sure that all the studio equipment to be used is working to its best capacity for the production, before the production team arrive.
